Finding Hildasay by Christopher Lewis

Chris Lewis, a retired paratrooper, had suffered from depression. His one happy place was at the beach surfing. One day, while sitting on his board, he realised this was where he wanted to be.

So with very little planning and even fewer supplies, he set off to walk the coastline of the UK. He meets some amazing, generous people along the way who help feed him and provide him with a hot shower and a place to wash his clothes, then see him on his way.

Chris writes a great story of all that happens, and his descriptions of what he goes through is heart-warming.

He adopts a beautiful dog, Jet, who becomes his devoted companion.

Prior to setting off, he decides that he is going to promote SSAFA (Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association). A Facebook page is set up and slowly funds start coming in.

People plan to meet him in various towns, which he enjoys, but he needs his solitude.

This book only covers a small part of the walk - the first 5 years, and there is more to come.

I look forward to the other books to come, its an easy read, descriptive and endearing. Definitely a book to enjoy.
