Sorrow and Bliss By Meg Mason

Sorrow and Bliss - the title says it all, sums up this story perfectly.

It's a story about Martha. Everything is about Martha. The outcome of her actions and how it affects others, though she doesn't see this at first.

There is something not quite right with Martha. She visits different doctors, each one has a different idea of what is troubling her. The book never actually gives a name to her ailments, which leaves it to the reader to form their own opinion.

She takes her medication, accepts the advice of everyone and lets this form her life.

Along the way she finds out what really is wrong with her and she realises she has missed out on a life - she always dreamed of.

This book won't be everyone's cup of tea, but I enjoyed it.

Through the complexities of family and relationships it gives a sad, but true, picture of life. Believing others, the secrets and truth that are kept hidden, when we think it's for the best.
